As we celebrate the first anniversary of PancakeSwap v3, I'm thrilled to reveal the whitepaper of PancakeSwap v4, marking the next significant leap in our journey to provide the best DEX in the industry. Building upon the core principles of automated market maker (AMM) technology, v4 integrates the latest advancements. It also aligns with PancakeSwap's commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, setting the stage for future growth and expansion.

#### **Addressing Key Challenges:**

AMMs have revolutionized price discovery, simplifying token management and overcoming centralized exchange (CEX) barriers. However, DEXs still lag in trade volumes compared to CEXs. Recognizing this, v4 aims to bridge the gap by tackling four crucial areas: varied pricing models, execution functions, impermanent loss, and high gas fees.

#### **PancakeSwap v4 Solutions:**

**1. Pricing models:** PancakeSwap v4 supports xy=k pricing curves and the bin-pool model as a default, offering flexibility for pool creators to tailor pricing mechanisms for diverse asset types, and use cases. This fosters innovation and inclusivity within our ecosystem. v4 additionally is able to support any new AMM model that may not yet exist, supporting any future new assets which require new pricing curves.

**2. Execution functions:** By integrating CEX-level execution functions like limit and stop orders as hooks in PancakeSwap v4, we enhance trading flexibility and user experience. This empowers traders with sophisticated functionalities, driving DeFi adoption forward.

**3. Impermanent loss mitigations:** Impermanent loss has been a major supply-side issue for liquidity providers and DEXs. The difficulties of providing liquidity reliably and profitably are [**well-documented**](https://arxiv.org/abs/2111.09192) and studied.

We're internally testing solutions to increase net trading fees collected by LPs by up to 2x, ensuring more consistent profitability for liquidity providers (LPs) and reducing reliance on token incentives. This will significantly increase the net fees earned by liquidity providers on PancakeSwap. The enhanced LP fees will also enable further reduced CAKE emissions as impermanent loss is mitigated, leading to even more ultrasound CAKE.

**4. Gas fee reduction:** Leveraging the Singleton model, v4 slashes the gas cost of deploying liquidity pools by more than more than 90%, making transactions more accessible and cost-effective regardless of which AMM deployed on PancakeSwap v4.

#### **Licensing & Rollout Plan:**

Our v4 mission is crystal clear: to champion open-source principles and uplift the entire DeFi landscape. We're proud to announce that PancakeSwap v4 code will be released under an open-source license, empowering developers to innovate, customize, and collaborate freely. Dear PancakeSwap Community,

**[PancakeSwap’s Affiliate Program](https://pancakeswap.finance/affiliates-program)**, will officially be retired on March 5th, 2025, at 23:59 UTC.

#### **What Does This Mean for You?**

If you're part of the PancakeSwap Affiliate Program (as either an affiliate or a referred user), please note the following:

- **Commission Sharing:** As previously communicated via pop-up notifications to all related wallet addresses individually, commission sharing and trading discounts have ended, effective from the termination date for each affiliate (which may vary depending on the affiliate who referred you).
- **Withdrawals:** Ensure you withdraw any unclaimed commissions or trading discounts before **5 March 2025 at 23:59 UTC**. After this time, the affiliate program will be officially retired, and no further withdrawals will be processed through the platform.
- **Interface:** The Affiliate Program will be retired from our interface by **5th March 2025, 23:59 UTC**. After this, users will no longer be able to access or interact with it.


#### **How to Withdraw Your Unclaimed Trading Discounts and/or Commissions:**

1\. Visit the **[Affiliate Dashboard](https://pancakeswap.finance/affiliates-program/dashboard)**

2\. Connect Your Wallet:
- If you are an affiliate,  connect the wallet you used to register as a PancakeSwap Affiliate. 
- If you are a user referred by an affiliate, connect with the wallet registered to the affiliate’s referral.

3\. If you have any unclaimed commissions or trading discounts, you’ll see your balance and can click 'Claim.' If there’s no balance, there are no commissions or trading discounts to claim.

4\. Once PancakeSwap approves your claim (usually within 24 hours), your commissions or trading discounts will be available for withdrawal.

5\. After approval, confirm the transaction, and the commissions or trading discounts will be sent directly to your wallet. _(Please note you’ll need to cover the gas withdrawal fee.)_

#### **Post-Retirement:**

Please note that any unclaimed commissions or trading discounts **will be forfeited** after the deadline of **5th March, 2025 23:59 UTC**. If you do not withdraw your unclaimed commissions or trading discounts by this deadline, you may contact the PancakeSwap team at info@pancakeswap.com for further assistance. However, please be aware that we cannot guarantee further claims after the deadline. We strongly encourage you to withdraw your rewards before the deadline.

### **Action Needed: Vote in the New Gauges Voting Contract**

We introduced an upgraded veCAKE Gauges Voting contract in December to streamline operations and improve the voting process. Starting from Epoch 28 (December 5, 00:00 UTC), all votes must be placed using the new contract. Any votes cast before this date have been reset and will not count toward future CAKE emissions.

This update ensures a smoother experience for voters while maintaining the integrity of the distribution process. If you haven’t yet transitioned to the new contract, don’t worry—there’s no deadline to switch, and you can start voting anytime.
