**Q17** Where can we find the hook template repository?

**Q18** Can you explain the life cycles of hooks and their examples?

**Ans:** Hooks can be implemented before / after 5 key actions namely initialize, swap, addLiquidity, removeLiquidity, donate. For instance, when a user initiates a swap, the PoolManager contract checks if a beforeSwap hook callback exists. If it does, the logic under the beforeSwap method in the hook contract is executed; otherwise, the swap proceeds as usual. After the swap is completed, the same process occurs for the afterSwap callback.

**Q19** Do we need to perform address mining to ensure hooks are deployed at a specific address?

**Q21** Should we use foundry or hardhat for hook development?

### **Action Needed: Vote in the New Gauges Voting Contract**

We introduced an upgraded veCAKE Gauges Voting contract in December to streamline operations and improve the voting process. Starting from Epoch 28 (December 5, 00:00 UTC), all votes must be placed using the new contract. Any votes cast before this date have been reset and will not count toward future CAKE emissions.

This update ensures a smoother experience for voters while maintaining the integrity of the distribution process. If you haven’t yet transitioned to the new contract, don’t worry—there’s no deadline to switch, and you can start voting anytime.

While we had initially set a target for a Q3 2024 release, we’ve chosen to take a bit more time to conduct additional security audits and gather further feedback. We've completed the first round of audits and are using this valuable input to refine and enhance the protocol.

Rather than rushing the process, we focus on delivering a product that meets the highest standards and is ready for the community. We’re currently in the final stages of internal testing, making final tweaks based on feedback to ensure the best possible outcome.

Looking ahead to 2025, we're confident that the extra care we’re putting into this release will result in a secure, seamless launch. We appreciate the community’s patience as we continue fine-tuning PancakeSwap v4 to ensure it’s the best it can be.
